Peaceful Place Painting

If you’ve been feeling stressed or burnt-out, then this art prompt can help create peaceful emotional states through visualization and art making. If you don’t have paint, you can use markers, colored pencils or oil pastels. This can even be done as a collage!

Materials needed

  • Paper (size 8.5x11” or larger)

  • Your choice of paint medium (watercolor, acrylic paint, or water soluble pastels).

  • Cup of water

  • Paper towel or rag

Steps

  1. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and think of a place where you feel safe, calm and at peace. Tap into your senses. what does this place sound like? What do you smell? What does the air quality feel like? Visualize it in your mind’s eye.

  2. On your paper, use paint to create this space. Be sure to add details and colors that make you feel at peace.

  3. Title your artwork.
